Human chain on the 25th anniversary of the Berlin Wall, 1986

On August 9, 1986, to acknowledge the upcoming 25th anniversary of the Berlin Wall and to commemorate the division of the city, people formed a human chain between Checkpoint Charlie and Bernauer Strasse. Many thousands of people participated in the event that was initiated by the group “Arbeitsgemeinschaft 13. August” and other organizations.
